October 8th is National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day, created to raise awareness about the benefits of fuel cell and hydrogen technologies. To commemorate the day Honda has announced the release date for its 2017 Honda Clarity Fuel Cell sedan and the plan for its rollout.
2017 Honda Clarity Fuel Cell Release Date
It’s official, the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell will hit the streets before the end of 2016. The brand plans to start the process of releasing the Clarity Fuel Cell first in select California markets and then expanding from there. The selected markets will have the opportunity for retail leasing of the hydrogen-powered sedan.
2017 Clarity Fuel Cell Features
The Clarity Fuel Cell provides a spacious interior due to the compact size of the powertrain, allowing seating for up to five passengers. Advanced engineering has enabled a condensed fuel cell stack that is 33 percent smaller than its predecessor while being 60 percent more efficient. Overall, the hydrogen powertrain is comparable in size to a V6 engine and therefore being able to fit completely under the hood of the sedan.
To give drivers a better sense of the increased performance the 2017 Clarity possesses, let’s look at the previous FCX Clarity and how it compares to the new model.
