Honda Urban SUV Concept
Honda has always been an equal opportunity SUV automaker. Whether drivers have wanted to get rough and rugged with the Honda Pilot or scale down to the 31-highway-mpg* CR-V, Honda has provided options for individuals of every lifestyle to exercise their SUV freedom. According to Honda, that effort will even be more widely broadened in 2014 with a production version of the current Honda Urban SUV concept vehicle.
With a body measuring shorter than that of the CR-V, the Honda Urban SUV concept is designed to be the ideal automobile for the active metropolitan lifestyle. The size of the vehicle is set to make it highly maneuverable, and the video from Honda posted below highlights the SUV’s fuel efficiency and next-generation connectivity.
In addition to the advanced technologies planned for the Urban SUV concept, the vehicle will also be equipped with the same second-row Magic Seat that is featured inside the 2015 Honda Fit. The Magic Seat configuration allows the Fit to accommodate an unprecedented amount of cargo space for a hatchback of its size, so all signs seem to indicate that the Honda Urban SUV will challenge for the crown of cargo king in its category.
Next to quantities of cargo space, the Honda Urban SUV concept is set to bring a level of sophistication to the class of small sport utilities. Smaller on the outside than CR-V, the Urban SUV is set to compete with vehicles like the Kia Soul and Nissan Juke. While each of those vehicles features a design that is uniquely playful, there should be little dispute that the Honda Urban SUV brings a sophisticated, luxury-inspired style to the category.
Of course, some styling cues are bound to change between concept and production. It appears as if Americans won’t have to wait long to find out exactly what the Honda Urban SUV concept will look like, however. According to the Honda Web page for the SUV concept, the vehicle may be rolling out in the U.S. by the end of 2014.
The blog at Continental Honda will be keeping a close watch on Honda’s Urban SUV concept, so continue to follow for the latest news and notes from the world of Honda.
