The freedoms we enjoy today were protected and fought for by our nation’s veterans. Veterans Day is one specific day of the year designated as a way to say thank you for their efforts and sacrifices. To honor the veterans of the Chicago area and all veterans of the United States Military, attend one of below parades or ceremonies in your community.
Soldier Field Veterans Day Parade
Named in honor of the men lost during World War I, Soldier Field hosts a Veterans Day ceremony each year. For 2016, the ceremony begins at 11:00 a.m. And will be held at Gate 0.
Aurora, IL Veterans Day Ceremony and Parade
The City of Aurora will be hosting its annual Veterans Day parade and ceremony on Friday, November 11, 2016. The parade will begin at the corner of Benton and Broadway at 10:15 a.m. and continue to the GAR Memorial Hall where the “Honoring All Who Served” ceremony will begin. At 11:00 a.m. during the ceremony commemorating the exact time the armistice was signed to end World War I.
Norridge Veterans Day Remembrance Ceremony
Norridge residents can commemorate Veterans Day 2016 at the village of Norridge annual Veterans Day remembrance ceremony November 11, 2016, at 11:11 a.m. The ceremony will take place between the police department and village hall at 4010 N. Olcott Ave.
Marmion Academy Veterans Day Observance
Marmion Academy’s annual Veterans Day Observance Ceremony will take place in the Alumni Hall gymnasium on November 11, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. This year’s guest of honor is FR. Paul Weberg OSB, monk of Marmion Academy and Army Chaplain.
