2016 Honda Civic vs 2016 Ford Focus
The 2016 Honda Civic and the 2016 Ford Focus both have a lot of appeal for small car shoppers. They're two of the most fun-to-drive vehicles in this category -- test drivers and car reviewers have praised both cars on their excellent handling and overall great driving dynamics. They're both affordable and very fuel-efficient. And they're both loaded with useful features and technology. Deciding which new vehicle to buy can be a tough call. However, while the 2016 Ford Focus has a lot to offer, it falls short of the redesigned Honda Civic on a few important criteria that compact car buyers might want to consider before making a final decision.
The first major difference between the Civic and the Focus is under the hood. Both cars offer two different engine options. Their base engines are very similar power-wise; the Civic's can get up to 41 MPG HWY Rating/31 MPG City Rating, while the Ford Focus's tops out at 31 combined MPG. The Ford Focus offers a more efficient EcoBoost engine, but choosing that option means sacrificing a significant amount of power. On the other hand, the Honda Civic offers a power upgrade, without sacrificing efficiency at all!

Which Car Fits Your Lifestyle?
The second important difference between the two cars is in the backseat. The Honda Civic's 2016 redesign added additional legroom for passengers, giving it one of the most spacious backseats in the compact class. Legroom in the Ford Focus is about 4 inches less -- you might not notice this difference at first, but your tall friends definitely will. The 2016 Civic also has a significantly larger trunk than the Ford Focus. (The Focus does come in a hatchback style, and so will the 2016 Civic, eventually -- but sedan shoppers should still take note!)
The 2016 Civic offers a lot more driver assistance and active safety features than the 2016 Ford Focus does. Both vehicles come with a standard rearview camera. Both offer a blind spot camera as well, depending on which trim level you buy. However, the Focus doesn't offer forward collision braking on any model. The 2016 Civic does offer this feature, along with lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and more, as part of the Honda Sensing package, which is available on any 2016 Civic trim. Finally, although the 2016 Ford Focus' audio system is otherwise good, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are only offered on the 2016 Civic.
